Gloria Barbara Petitto

Gloria Barbara Petitto, 91 of Wilmington, NC passed away on June 7, 2018 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilmington, NC.

 She was born July 27, 1926 in Mt. Clare, WV, daughter of the late Antonio and Virginia Pascuzzo Petitto.

 Gloria is a graduate of Lost Creek High School and went on to earn her Masters from the George Peabody College for Teachers. She taught in WV, Marietta, OH and later as an employee of the Department of Defense on US Military bases in Japan and Germany, teaching English classes to service members’ children. While overseas, she pursued her love of travel visiting countries in Asia, Europe and Africa. Gloria eventually moved to Palm Desert, CA in 1968 where she continued teaching at Palm Desert High School until her retirement.

Gloria is survived by her special nephews, Jay and Pete Spadafora and several additional nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Louis, Robert, Angelo, Arthur, Roger, Samuel, Victor, “Pete”, John, Ernest, and Antonio, “Tony” and sister, Rozena Spadafora.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Friday, June 15, 2018 from 5-8 pm. Catholic Funeral Rites will be held in the Chapel of Davis Funeral Home on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11:00 am with Father Kent During presiding. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
