Elfriede “Freda” Anna Ebert Compton, 94, passed away November 14, 2017 at the Mansfield Place in Philippi, WV. She was born April 4, 1923 in Fulda, Germany; daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Liese Ebert. She married Clyde Compton, Jr. on September 11, 1946 in Germany; whom preceded her in death on September 22, 1999. Freda is survived by four sons, Hans Ebert of Petersburg, Germany, Gerald H. Compton and wife Karen of Philippi, WV; Allen Compton of Clarksburg, WV, Jeff Compton and wife Barbara of Clarksburg, WV; six grandchildren, Tracy Byrd, Jeremy, Ryan, Chris, Carrie and Erik Compton; step-grandchild, Misha Cherry of Sylacauga, Al; four great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; special friend, of 70 years, Eloise Middleton of Murfreesboro, TN; special buddy, Payden Compton. Freda was formerly employed at Oak Hall Cafeteria and the Veterans Hospital Canteen. She was baptized Catholic but attended Methodist churches. Freda was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a wonderful cook, baker, seamstress and loved babies and animals. She loved when children came into Mansfield Place to visit. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:30am at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens with Reverend Kenny Kendall presiding.
