Dortha Virginia (Ord) Byrd

Dortha Virginia Byrd, 86, of Stonewood, passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 at Fairmont General Hospital with family by her side. She was born December 24, 1933 in Clarksburg, daughter of the late Arthur B. and Irene N. Phillips Ord.

Dortha was a sales clerk at the Curtain Shop in Clarksburg for multiple years.  She was active with RW High School Athletics Boosters. Her hobbies were reading, shopping QVC, and working cross word puzzles.  She was a member of Oak Mound Evangelical Church. Her joy in life was her family and especially her grandchildren.    

Dortha is survived by two sons, Robert E. Byrd II and wife Anita of Bridgeport and Ronald A Byrd and wife Patty of Shinnston; three grandchildren, Meredith Byrd, Erica Byrd, Kristy Parrish and husband Brian; two great grandchildren, Gabrielle and Elijah; sister-in-law, Juania Ord, Grove City, OH and niece, Jimelle Mader and husband Eddie and their children, Jacob and Kayleigh; special cousin, Steve Harrah and wife Peggy, Clarksburg. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert E Byrd whom she married May 23, 1952; one brother, Norville “Jack” Ord.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive, Clarksburg on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 11:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 2:00 PM with Rev. Brian Plum presiding. Entombment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
