Angelina Mary Rose (Vallelonga) Ovies, age 88 of Clarksburg, WV passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018 at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born December 1, 1929 in Anmoore, WV; the daughter of the late Cosimo Vallelonga and Emecolata (Meleca) Vallelonga.
Angelina is survived by her son, Anthony Ovies & his wife, Dawn of Quiet Dell, WV; two daughters, Sharon Flanery & her husband, William of Pinch, WV, and Carol Lafferty & her husband, Michael of Stonewood, WV; six grandchildren, Jonathan Sines, Angelina Lafferty, Loraina Lafferty, Cara Flanery, Adam Walker and Derek Walker; five great grandchildren, Caroline Queen, Manny Fratto, Landen Walker, Hayden Walker and Camden Walker; two sisters, Josephine “Jay” Spatafore & her husband, Joseph “Jobey” of Clarksburg, WV and Mary Jane Merandi & her husband, Sam of Quiet Dell, WV; two brothers, Franklin Vallelonga & his wife, Mary Moore of Elkins, WV and Daniel Vallelonga of Quiet Dell, WV; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Angelina is preceded in death by her husband whom she married on June 22, 1952, Manuel Francis Ovies, who died on September 17, 2003; and three brothers, Joseph, Michael and Larry Vallelonga.
Angelina retired from Wun-Der Shoe Store with 39 years of service. She was a former member of the St. Francis Borgia in Anmoore, where Father Charles Carroll influenced her faith and a 50 plus year member of St. James Catholic Church, where she was one of the original choir members. Angelina was an active member of St. James Catholic Church Altar Rosary Society for the last several years where she organized the making of Pita Piata and Easter bread. She enjoyed playing Bingo at the Knight of Columbus and the East View Senior Citizen Center. Angelina loved music and as a child was a toy orchestra director. Angelina loved sports, especially basketball.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. James Catholic Church Youth Group, in care of Michael Spatafore, 2107 Pride Avenue, Clarksburg, WV 26301.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Dr., Clarksburg, on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 1:00 – 8:00pm, where a Vigil Service will be held at 8:00 pm; Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 10:00 am with Father Akila Rodrigo, Father Stephen Vallelonga and Father Alfred Obiudu, as presiders. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
