James Edward Boring, 73 of Lumberport, WV passed away at his home on March 17, 2024 with his wife Marjorie by his side. For 48 years he fought a long and courageous battle against cancer. Jim’s battle ended when he entered into the presence of his Savior. No more sorrow, no more pain, no more tears to cry again. Only unspeakable joy and peace.
Jim was born on May 27, 1950 in Lumberport, WV to the late Buck and Bonnie Barnes Boring.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his two sons, who he loved very much, Jay and Greg Boring; two girls, who were like daughters to him, Heidi Preston Kanitz and Reba Clifford; one brother, Alan Boring; one sister, Janice Carder; a special nephew, Matt Boring.
Jim was a graduate of Lumberport High School, Class of 1968. Jim excelled at every sport available, baseball, basketball, football, but his passion was golf. He was never happier than when he was playing golf. In later years he received a lot of enjoyment coaching kids in sports. He appreciated the beauty of the great outdoors and thrived when fishing, hunting, mowing and weedeating. He was a guy who never met a stranger, he was fun loving and had a kind and generous heart. He enjoyed helping and serving others. Anyone who needed a hand could count on Jim, even after he was sick, she was still doing what he could.
A special Thanks to those who supported Jim in his last years of life with friendship and caring; Seven Southern, Ashton Pritt, Robert Ayers, Otis Watts, Scott Swiger, Matt Boring, Butch and Jamie Smith and Tiffany Parsons.
Also want to acknowledge the wonderful care given to Jim by the hospice ladies, Lori, Jennifer, Shannon and Delphia, four angels of mercy.
Lastly, with much love and appreciation, I want to acknowledge daughter Reba, a great blessing from God who supported her mother and Jim in so many ways, but especially with kindness and compassion. Thank you all for showing the love of Christ throughout Jim’s illness.
John 21:16- “Do you Love me? ... Tend to my sheep.”
