Thomas Andrew Purnell

Thomas Andrew Purnell, 69, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at United Hospital Center after a long and courageous battle with arteriosclerosis. Tom was born November 21, 1947 to Wilbur (Bill) Purnell and Alice Cunningham. He was raised by his LuLu Silvis.

Tom was married to the late Brenda Shearer. He has four children, Melissa and husband, Jimmy Satterfield, Tammy Purnell, Tom Purnell, John Stout and wife, Erin. He has five grandchildren, Dylan, Riki and Franky Satterfield, Tyler and Tori Stout; three sisters, Sandra (Jenkins) Maul, Donna Sandy and husband George, Becky Myers and husband, Larry. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Russ, Ray and his best friend in life, Jim Purnell.

Tom lived in Marietta Georgia for More than 30 years returning to Clarksburg in 1997. He was employed by the Summit Center until his retirement. He loved playing bingo at the Village Square; where he had many bingo buddies.

We would like to thank John Angotti for his years of caring for our brother. We would also like to thank the wonderful nursing staff, on 6 North, for treating him with such compassion. Also a special thank you to Sharon (nursing instructor for Fairmont) and the two nursing students that were with us at the time of his death. You will never know what your presence and kind words to him has meant to me. You will be wonderful nurses. He did the best he could with the hand that he was dealt.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, Rt. 98 Clarksburg, on
February 17, 2017 from 10:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm; with Brad Cottrill presiding. Interment will follow at Good Hope Masonic Cemetery.
