Robert D. Shanholtz, 83, of Fairmont departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 13, 2017. He was born on January 17, 1933, the son of the late Paul B. Shanholtz and Beatrice (Toots) Shanholtz.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sarah J. Shanholtz of Fairmont; three daughters and their spouses, Brad and Kathy Wotring of Capon Bridge, Danny and Beth Amos of Bridgeport, Elio and Erin Battista of Hockessin, DE; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Eric B. Shanholtz.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-55. He retired in 1995 after 40 years working as a sheet metal worker for S.M. Kisner and Sons. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 33 and the Sheet Metal Workers International Association.
He loved hunting and fishing. His family's welfare was always his top priority. He could find humor in any situation. He was a man of few words and great wisdom. When he spoke, everyone listened. He will be greatly missed by his wife and family.
A graveside service was held for family and close friends on Sunday, January 15 with Pastor Charles Madaus officiating. Interment is at the Farmington I.O.O.F.Cemetery.
